应我院关翔宇教授邀请，昆士兰大学黄隆斌教授将来我校进行学术交流，并做学术报告。

题  目：Uncovering the dark truth in pedogenesis for tackling global tailings challenge in the environment

摘  要：Many billions of tones of polluting tailings have been generated and stored in more than 2000 large tailings storage facilities, nearly 30% of which are right inside nature conservation and protection zones. The environmental problems caused herein are far beyond the capacity of conventional soil remediation using agronomic methods. Therefore, we need a new approach which are capable of in situ dealing with this problem and generating nature-based outcomes at large scale and within a reasonable timeframe. Mineralogically speaking, tailings are mostly polymineral mixtures, not soil at all. Biological, physical and chemical weathering of minerals is critical to the initiation in natural pedogenesis. Through uncovering the fundamental processes and regulatory mechanisms, we have demonstrated it is feasible to apply this nature-based approach to enhance extensive weathering of polluting tailings for non-polluting and sustainable outcomes.

报告人简介：黄隆斌教授，任职于澳大利亚昆士兰大学。黄教授被公认为全球采矿行业顶尖专家之一，其在开发基于自然知识与技术用于污染性矿山废弃物的可持续治理及生态修复领域成就卓著。凭借在土壤科学与植物生理学领域深厚的科研积淀，黄教授开创了矿山废物生态工程学新理念与技术框架。通过与Rio Tinto长达十年的合作攻关，他主导研发了全球首个可实地应用的铝土矿渣脱碱技术，目前该技术已具备产业化推广条件。
